  • How to activate my Government Hostel account?

    Welcome back! For security purposes, we can only activate your account from a desktop. Go to Goverment Hostel website. Click "Sign In" and click Activate below the forgot password link. Type the email address listed under Send activation email in the form field, and press Send email Within seconds, you should receive an email with link to activate your account.


  • How can I reset my password?

    Locked yourself out of your account? No worries, we'll get it fixed in no time. For security purposes, we can only reset your password from a desktop. Go to Government Hostel website. Click "Sign In" and click Forgot Password? below the empty login form fields. Type the email address listed under your Government Hostel account in the form field, and press Reset My Password Within seconds, you should receive an email with instructions to reset your account. Follow the prompts in this email to reset your password.


  • What are the benefits of becoming a registered member of Government Hostel?

    As a registered member of Goverment Hostel, you will be entitled to savings and benefits on airfares, hotel reservations, holiday packages, bus and car rentals, among other travel services. In addition, look forward to receiving monthly newsletters and exclusive promotions offering special deal.


Payments & Refund

  • Can I make part payments?

    Goverment Hostel Partial Payment facility is enabled for International flight tickets and Domestic Spicejet Airlines only by paying just a percentage of the total amount at the time of booking the ticket. You can pay the balance amount at a later date that is more convenient for you. If you choose to make a Partial Payment for your ticket, we will confirm your ticket. However the ticket will only be sent to you after we receive the full payment for the booking. The Partial Amount paid could be upto 60% of the Total Fare which includes the airline cancellation penalty and Goverment Hostel service fee. The Due Date for paying the balance amount will be displayed on the booking page at the time of paying the advance. A refund of the partial paid amount lessening the cancellation charges of Goverment Hostel and Airlines is granted on cancellation of tickets before due date of balance payment. You can call our Customer Support to make the balance payment by Credit Card.


  • Card payment declined

    Please check with your bank if you have sufficient balance in your card and if your card is currently invalidity. OR try with a different card / bank account again.


  • Can I pay by Cash?

    We currently do not support this facility. Kindly initiate your payment though our mobile app.


  • What are the various payment options offered by Goverment Hostel?

  • Can I make offline payments?

    We currently do not support this facility. Kindly initiate your payment online though our mobile app.


  • Can I make payments through my mobile?

    Yes, our site is accessible on mobile website, Android, iPhone and Windows and you can make your bookings and complete your transactions through your mobile phone.


  • Is my payment secure on Goverment Hostel?

    Goverment Hostel is a VeriSign certified site and all data transmitted over the browser is encrypted.


  • How does the EMI feature work at Goverment Hostel?

    You can make your travel bookings at Goverment Hostel on an 'every month installment' basis. For this, Goverment Hostel will charge a convenience fee of Rs.100 per passenger on your booking, which will be automatically added to your total sum. The EMI payment option is currently available only for CITI Bank. Bookings of Rs. 2,500 and above are eligible for a 3 month EMI term. Any booking under Rs. 2,500 is not eligible for paying in equal monthly installments. You can choose your payment period to be either 3 months or 6 months. Goverment Hostel will display your monthly installment amount after you have selected your period of EMI. Enter your card details and proceed for payment. Every month, your bank account will transfer the EMI to the Goverment Hostel account for the period of the EMI. If the ticket is eligible for a refund, the EMI is cancelled and the paid amount is reversed to the card account. Please note that the Goverment Hostel processing charges will not be refunded and payment is subject to the cancellation charges as given in the flight cancellation policy.


  • While I was paying by net banking, my session expired. Why so?

    Your session expired due to security reasons. This happens when you take too long to make the direct debit payment and done manage it in the specified amount of time. Please go back to the booking page and start over.


  • What are the modes of receiving refunds from Goverment Hostel?

    While Cancelling/Rescheduling any of your booking, you can opt to get refund in your original mode of payment of via goCash: 1. Refund to original source of payment - will get credited with the refund amount within 5-14 working days. OR 2. You can take the refund as goCash (You will receive the money instantly)


  • My money has been deducted, and I have not received any confirmation mail or booking ID from your side. What should I do?

    Such cases though rare usually happen and are usually the result of a slow internet connection. To know why this can happen, it's better to know a little: Once Customer selects the mode of payment and hits the Pay Securely button, the Goverment Hostel app redirects the customer to banks website where he makes the payment. Once the payment is done, customer will be re-directed to Goverment Hostel's app, where the booking is done after the payment is verified. Once this is done, the confirmation page is displayed and the voucher sent to the customer's email id provided at the time of making the booking. What goes wrong? Well, for a booking to be made, it is necessary that you are redirected back to our app for it is important for us to know that the payment has been made. If during this stage something goes wrong (i.e., power failure, or a slow internet connection) and the connection breaks down, our system wont know that the payment has been made and your account is debited. In such a scenario the booking wont be generated. However, you need not despair; do let us know via 24*7 goCare Support - Visit the Quick Help section - Click on Booking Issue. We will check the issue and revert to you with the resolution.


  • Can I pay with two different credit cards?

    Online: Unfortunately we only accept 1 credit card as payment per bookings. Offline: Yes you can make the payment using 2 credit cards.


  • I want to book online but don't have any credit or debit cards. Can I still book online?

    You can make your booking using any of the following payment options - Diners Club Maestro Card EMI (CITI Bank) American Express Card Net Banking (Domestic / International) UPI TEZ


  • Can I use my card to make a booking in someone else's name?

    Yes, you can, but do make sure that under 'Traveller Name' you mention the name of the person who will be traveling. You are required to enter your name and your billing address while on the Payment Page.


  • While trying to book a ticket, I filled in and submitted my payment details and then nothing happened/ the website did not respond/I could not proceed with the booking. What do I do?

    We suggest that you check with your bank if payment has been deducted from your account/charged to your card. In case, payment has been deducted or charged to your account we would automatically refund the full amount and same would reflect in your account/card statement within 5-14 working days. If you do not receive the refund, you may write to us by logging in your Goverment Hostel account-click on Manage Booking-got to Quick Help Section and click on Additional Questions.


  • Is my credit card information secure and safe?

    Yes. Goverment Hostel is a secure application. It follows the best security practices and the most stringent safety protocols adopted by major online travel companies. Any information you enter when transacting with Goverment Hostel is sent in an encrypted format to protect you against unintentional disclosure to third parties.


  • Can I save my credit card details for future use?

    Yes, you may save your credit card details like card number, name on card, expiry date, billing address to avoid filling these details every time you book a ticket. Thus whenever you wish to pay with your stored card simply choose 'Pay by using Previous Used Card' as a payment option.


  • What's the Card Verification Number (CVV) on my credit card?

    CVV is an important security feature that reduces the risk of online fraud. This number never appears on sales receipts or billing statements and it is only found on the physical card itself. We ask you to enter the CVV code during your transaction to make sure that the card is, in fact, in your possession.

  • Do I need to register with Goverment Hostel before I can make a booking?

    No, you need not register with us before you make a booking. However as a registered member of Goverment Hostel, you will be entitled to savings and benefits on airfares, hotel reservations, holiday packages, bus and car rentals, among other travel services.


  • What are transaction charges?

    These charges are levied by the bank directly as payment gateway charges to facilitate online payments. Such charges are applicable on all online payments on all sites including at IRCTC.


  • Do I require a passport to travel on a International Holiday?

    Yes. Passports are mandatory for all International holiday packages and that they need to be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure.**Validity duration may vary depending on the country of visit.


  • How referral program and goCash+ works?

  • What is the difference between a hotel's guest rating and star rating?

    There are key differences between the two: Guest rating are fed by customers such as yourself and governed by Goverment Hostel's own algorithm. Hotel rating is given by a recognized authority. In India, the classification of hotels is based on Star and Heritage.   • How often can I write a review, when will my review be published?

    You can write a review every time you book with us and stay at the hotel booked. These reviews will be published after moderation as helpful information to the traveller community. Every review we receive undergoes a very strict verification process from our end. This is done to ensure fake reviews do not creep into our system. We normally take a couple of days to moderate post which we publish your review.


  • If I write a review of a hotel, can the hotel contact me about it?

    We let the hotels reply to your review on our community platform. Since you have stayed at the hotel, they may have your contact details and can chose to get in touch with you to get more information. However we do not publish contact details.


  • Can I edit my review and does Goverment Hostel website amend any reviews on their own?

    If you want to edit a review you have already submitted, kindly click on "Talk to agent" button and our support executive will connect and provide modify review link.Goverment Hostel does not edit/Ammend your reviews in any way.


  • Why isn't my review posted yet or why was my review rejected?

    Due to Technical issue (could be Banking network down or inability to connect to one's bank) or due to online fraudulent risk we do not allow to book.


  • I have booked a hotel with someone else's card. Do I need to show/carry that card at the hotel?

    No, that is not required. All you need to carry is a printout of the confirmation voucher that was sent to you by Goverment Hostel and valid ID proofs (voter's ID/driving license/ration card/passport/Aadhar Card)


  • How will my hotel booking be confirmed?

    For all hotel bookings made on the website, you will receive a confirmation number via the e-mail id shared at the time of making the booking.


  • How many days prior to the journey should I book the hotel?

    There is no specific date, however it is advisable to book your hotel well in advance to procure hotel reservations and get the best available rates.


  • What if I want to search for the next day or check availability for the next day?

    You can search by choosing the relevant date from the 'Modify Your Search' section.


  • Can I make hotel booking over the phone?

    No. We recommend our customers to make the bookings online.


  • What's the difference between a Twin & Double Room?

    A Twin room has 2 Single or 2 Queen-size beds where as a Double Room has 1 King-size bed

  • What is the difference between half-board and full-board meal?

    A half-board meal plan includes breakfast and one major meal - either lunch or dinner, whereas full-board includes all 3 meals, i.e., breakfast, lunch and dinner


  • I am getting a far better rate/discount elsewhere than at Goverment Hostel website. Can you give me a better deal?

  • How will I communicate to the customer care once the booking is done?

    You get a booking ID number once you make any reservation. You need to quote that after making the booking.

  • How do I provide feedback on the hotel booked through Goverment Hostel?

    It is very simple to submit your review, via mobile. Open the Goverment Hostel app, select the Hotel booking. Click on write a review to rate the various features of the Hotel in Question.


  • What documents do I need to carry to check-in for my flight? Do I have to carry the credit card that was used for making the payment?

    It is mandatory to carry a government issued photo identification (ID) proof along with the E-Ticket copy. The same is verified by the airport security as well as the airline at the check-in counter. On presenting your photo ID proof and E-Ticket copy, your boarding pass will be issued. For international flights, your passport is the only valid photo ID proof that will be accepted. In case of an infant travelling, it is mandatory to carry the birth certificate of the infant along with the e-ticket. It is not mandatory to carry the credit/debit card that was used to make the payment at the time of the booking, if you have booked through Goverment Hostel Website. We do not pass on your account details to the airline.


  • What travel documents am I required to carry while undertaking international travel? Any other rules?

    You require the following documents for your International Travel: 1) Passport - Valid for at least 6 months from your travel date. 2) Visa - Valid visa for the country you are visiting. You will also require a Transit Visa if you are transiting for more than 12 hours. Please check Transit Visa rules for the country of transit. 3) Travel insurance - It is advisable to carry valid Medical & Travel insurance when traveling internationally. 4) Foreign Currency - It is not allowed to carry more than US$ 10,000 as a cash or travelers check. 5) Air Ticket - Confirmed return air ticket. A one-way air ticket will be accepted only for students or working professionals (Student Visa or Work Visa holders), as well as dependents of the working professionals.   • Can I reserve a particular seat?

    Yes, in most instances, you can reserve a particular seat, as long as it is available. Not all flights have the option of online seat assignment. Policies on advanced seating vary from airline. Some airlines assign seats immediately, others may only assign seats 90 days before the flight, and several airlines wait to assign seats until the day of the flight. For special seat assignments, such as seats for travelers with special needs, please call the airline directly. Special seat requests may override frequent flyer and full price, unrestricted fare premium seating requests.


  • How do I get a visa?

    All countries that you wish to visit require advance application for visas. This involves filing your application at the embassy or consulate of the country. Several documents are required to accompany your application.   • Do I need to reconfirm my flight?

    For domestic airlines, you need not reconfirm your flights. Some international airlines do require passengers to call and reconfirm their flights a certain number of days/hours prior to departure. In this case, if the airline does not receive re-confirmation from the passenger, the reservation may be cancelled.If you are travelling on an airline that requires re-confirmation, we recommend that you call the airline to find out how far in advance you must reconfirm and any other applicable requirements the airline might have. It is usually 72 hours before departure. We also strongly recommend that you re-confirm your flight's departure time and terminal at least 24 hours before departure. This is to ensure that you are aware of your current schedule as airlines do sometimes change flight numbers, departure / arrival times, as well as terminal. Reconfirmation is done by calling the airlines directly. We will not be liable if your flights were cancelled by the airlines due to failure to reconfirm.


  • My international travel is starting from USA.Where and how can I find the seat configuration for any specific airline/aircraft?

    To find out the Seat Map & Aircraft Configuration, you need to follow the below steps: 1) Log on to www.Goverment Hostel.com 2) Go to Manage Booking Section 3) Click on Add Seats tab 4) You will be able to see the detailed seat map of the aircraft 5) According to your preference you can select the desired seat preference 6) Seats are allocated on first-come first-serve basis, and hence, it is requested to book them as early as possible 7) Every aircraft have very limited number of seats available


  • At what age is an air passenger considered a child?

    Any passenger between the age group of 2-12 years will be considered as Child by airlines and therefore may be prevented from travelling on their own. As such each airline has specific regulations regarding Child/minor travelling alone. For more information and to place a booking for an unaccompanied Child/minor please contact the airline directly.


  • I am travelling with an infant. Is there anything special I need to know?

    Babies between the ages of 0 to 2 years are considered to be an infant. Infants are not allocated separate seats.For an infant ticket, it is mandatory to carry the birth certificate of the infant along with the ticket.


  • Can the airline give a seat to my toddler (infant)?

    Most airline offer a bassinet on the plane for infant travelers, but since these are limited, they need to be booked well in advance of the date of travel.


  • Where can I get information regarding Visa and Travel for US Citizens? Are there any special travel considerations for Indian Citizens with expired I-94 or US Visas? What about Advance Payrolls?

    Some countries have stringent rules for Indian passport holders if they are transiting/traveling via UK, France, Germany, or Canada.   • What are the things that needs to be taken care of while traveling by flight?

    Security at the Airport: Heightened security measures at airports have increased the time needed at the airport and the variety of security measures you may encounter. The following tips will help smooth the process: Allow plenty of extra time by being at the airport at least two hours (for domestic, three hours for international) before departure to complete all formalities in time, especially if traveling with children or senior citizens. You will be required to produce your travel documents at different points through your journey so remember to keep them easily accessible at all times. Avoid wearing clothing, jewelry, or other accessories that contain metal when traveling. Be aware that any metal detected at the security checkpoint must be identified. If you set off the alarm, you will be required to undergo a secondary screening, including a pat-down inspection. Take your laptop computer out of its carry case and place it in the bin separate from the carrying case. Outer coats and jackets must go through the X-ray machine for inspection. Pack these in your carry-on baggage when possible. Wear shoes that can be taken off and put back on relatively easily since you will have to remove them every time you go through security inspection. In-flight Comfort: Chewing gum, yawning or sucking on hard candies can help to relieve the pressure that builds up in your ears as the airplane ascends and descends. Drink plenty of water while onboard the aircraft to avoid dehydration during the flight. Avoid drinking alcohol, tea and coffee. The air within the cabin can make your skin very dry. Carry some moisturizer and lip balm and apply it often enough. Do light stretching exercises in your seat and walk through the cabin frequently (when safe to do so). Consult your physician if you suffer from airsickness; medication could be prescribed for it. Should you have a cold, kindly talk to your doctor about using a decongestant or nasal spray before boarding the plane. This will help relieve the pressure. The relatively low humidity in the cabin can make allergy or asthma symptoms worse; take preventative measures as necessary.

    To check the fare for multiple dates, you may refer to our Fare Trend section on the search result page right after you enter your travel details and click on Get Set Go. This section will allow you to check the lowest fare available for other dates apart from the travel date you selected.


  • How do I select my prefered class of travel while making the booking?

    To search for availability of your prefered class of travel, please select the desired class from the Class dropdown section. We show the availability for Economy/Business/First Class/Premium Economy (depending on the airline availability) for the chosen journey date.


  • I want to book an International Flight using Goverment Hostel MWeb, Can I do that?

    Yes, you may book all International and Domestic flight tickets.


  • What is meant by the message: 'Session Expired'?

    A 'Session Expired' message will be shown if you have spent more than 30 minutes on a particular page.


  • If I have flight reservations and the airline changes my itinerary, will Goverment Hostel notify me?

    An email will not be sent for changes that should not have a major impact on your travel. If an airline makes a substantial change to your itinerary regarding flight departure and/or arrival time changes or service changes, such as no longer providing service to your destination, a Customer Service representative will contact you by phone. Once we have worked with you to process any changes needed, your updated itinerary will be sent via e-mail.


  • What type of buses can I book a ticket for?

    You can book a ticket for Volvo, Air Conditioned, Non Air Conditioned, Deluxe, Semi Deluxe, Sleeper, Semi Sleeper, Seater cum Sleeper and many other bus types.


  • What are Volvo, Sleeper, Semi Sleeper and other buses?

    Volvo Buses: The air conditioned Volvo buses are the most popular mode of public transport amongst the metropolitan travellers. The super luxury AC Volvo buses by Swedish auto company Volvo offer spacious reclining seats with adequate leg room to stretch out besides additional comforts like window curtains and matted screens to block out light. Features such as overhead reading lamps, powerful air conditioning with individual controls and superior air suspension make the AC Volvo buses ideal for long journeys where comfort is of utmost importance.   • How do I select my seats?

    In the seat layout page all the available seats will be displayed in white and grey outline cells and reserved ladies seats will be pink outline cells. Booked male seat will be displayed in blue cells and booked ladies seat will be in pink cells selected seat would be displayed in green cells. Now you can choose your seats from the available seats that will be in white and grey outline cell. You can choose up to 6 seats in one booking. To change any seats, you can unselect the seat and select a new one. The seat numbers you choose get added in the 'Seats Selected' field in the seat layout. After selecting your seats, you can select your boarding point from the drop down. The total fare and the selected seat number will be displayed. Click on the orange colour confirm booking button


  • How much luggage can I take on the bus?

    The luggage policy varies from operator to operator. You can contact the specific bus operator at the contact numbers mentioned on your e-ticket for detail


  • Do I need to register on Goverment Hostel App to book a bus ticket?

    Registering on Goverment Hostel App is necessary to book a bus ticket. You can book a bus ticket as a guest or a registered member on website only.


  • Can I book a one way bus ticket?

    Yes, you can book one way bus ticket.


  • Can I book a return bus ticket?

    Yes, you can. While booking your ticket select round trip option and proceed with your booking.


  • Can I sort my search results on the basis of time or departure/arrival time?

    Yes, you can sort your search results in your App. You can find Filter tab in which you can sort by time, boarding point, dropping point, bus operator type and bus type from the dropdown.


  • What are bus types?

    Bus types indicate the type of bus it is. For example, the standard bus types are Volvo AC buses, AC buses, Non AC buses, Seater buses, Sleeper buses, etc. Depending on the green icons highlighted under the bus type, you would know if the bus is a Volvo or Non Volvo, AC or non AC and Seater or Sleeper. There could be multiple combinations possible like if both the AC and Sleeper icons are green then the bus is an AC Sleeper bus. If only the AC icon is green the bus is an AC seater bus. Some buses now offer both Seater and Sleeper options as well as both AC and non AC sections within the same bus. Fares vary between AC and non AC seats/berths as well as sleeper or seater options. AC seats/berths are usually more expensive than non AC options. Sleeper berths are usually more expensive than seater options.While selecting your seat or sleeper berth on the seat map, please give attention to the type of seat or sleeper berth you are booking, especially in buses which provide both the options.   • Can I apply multiple filters? For example, what if I only want to see AC buses of Neeta Travels?

  • What if I want to see results of only specific bus operators or want to see only particular bus types (say only Volvo buses)?

    Yes this is possible. Filter the search results basis your preferred bus operators and bus types.


  • How do I choose my boarding point?

    After selecting your seat you can choose your boarding point from the 'Boarding Points' option.


  • The departure time given with the search results is from which boarding point?

    Departure times are absolute time of the day, and not relative to departure time from the first boarding point, however,after selecting the seats it will show you complete list of boarding points from first to last on the next page.


  • What if I want to choose some other bus and want to return to the search results page?

    Go back to the search results page for your search criterion.You can change the bus operator and select any other operator of your choice there.


  • Why are different seats priced differently?

    The price varies as per the seat type. Some buses have seats as well as sleeper and few bus operators charge for single sleeper and double sleeper differently.


  • Does Goverment Hostel operate the buses for which it sells the tickets online?

    Goverment Hostel does not operate any of the buses. We are merely a platform to facilitate bus ticket bookings. The buses are operated by various bus operators with whom we have an alliance.


  • I am travelling with a child. Do I need to purchase a bus ticket for him or her?

    There will be no charges for children below 2 years of age. They will not be given a seat and will have to travel on an adult's lap/seat. There are specific child fares for RTCs (road transport corporation) which varies from one RTC to another. The differential fare for a child passenger (if any) over 2 years of age will be shown during booking also.


  • I do not know the boarding point you are asking me to choose. How will I find it?

    When you book your ticket, the address of your chosen boarding point along with the phone number of the bus operator will be printed on your e-ticket/ m- ticket In case you have difficulty finding your boarding point from the address provided, you can call the bus operator directly for directions.


  • I don't have internet access. Can I still book a bus ticket?

    No, we have online booking only.


  • What are boarding points?

    Boarding points are locations within the city from where you can board your bus. In large cities like Bangalore, Delhi, etc. there may be more than one boarding points for the same bus. You can choose the boarding point most convenient to you and board the bus from there.


  • How do I search for my bus tickets online?

    After opening the Goverment Hostel App, choose the Bus section. Once the bus section opens up, choose one way or round trip and select the city from and to which you want to travel then select date and click on get set go Tab.


  • How do I see all the results again after I apply any filters?

    Remove the filter(s)


  • Can someone else travel on my bus ticket?

    No, someone else cannot travel on your bus ticket. You will need to present a photographic identity proof (passport, driver's license, etc.) along with the bus e-ticket to the bus conductor when boarding the bus. The name of the person on the bus ticket must be the same as that on the photographic identity proof presented.


  • Can I pay for someone else's bus ticket?

    Yes, you can pay for someone else's bus ticket. It is not necessary that the person paying for the bus ticket is the passenger.


  • I cannot see any cars available on my route.

    We have inventory available on selected routes in India. Please check availability for your desired route on our app or website.


  • What all is included in my fare?

    Fare paid by you is inclusive of all taxes, driver charges & fuel charges & is valid for KMs mentioned in your booking. Toll charges(if applicable) are to be paid by you directly at toll plaza (if not paid while booking). Incase of extra KMs travelled; please pay extra charges communicated to you after trip completion, directly to the driver.


  • Which identity proofs are accepted?

    Passengers not carrying a valid photo Id may be denied boarding the train or may be asked to deboard at any station by concerned railway authorities. Photo Id proofs accepted by Railways are as follows : Valid PassportVoter photo identity card Driving License issued by RTO Pan Card Photo Identity card having serial number issued by Central / State Government Student Identity Card with photograph issued by recognized School/College for their students Aadhaar cardPhoto identity cards having serial number issued by public sector Undertakings of State/Central Government, District Administrations, Municipal bodies and Panchayat Administrations For Non-Indians, their Country's Passport will constitute sole authorized ID Ration card will be accepted as proof of identity for undertaking journey under Tatkal scheme only if the passenger whose photograph is available on the ration card is travelling


  • What is meant by WL / DNR / NA / AVL / RAC / TKL?

    WL- Waiting list. DNR- Do not run. NA- Not Available. AVL- Available RAC- Reservation against cancellation. TKL- Tatkal.


  • What is a boarding point?

    Boarding point is the station from where you will board the train. You can set the desired boarding station while making a booking. You can only board the train from the boarding point entered at the time of booking.


  • How do I check availability for Tatkal quota?

    You can click on the available train on the app/web and then you can see the availability under tatkal quota. Tatkal quota opens one day in advance from the date of journey at 10:30 am for the AC classes and at 11:30 am for the non ac classes.


  • What is a RAC ticket?

    If you have been issued an RAC ticket, then most likely your ticket will get confirmed by the time of chart preparation and you will get a berth. In case the ticket remains RAC even after chart preparation, then you will be allotted a half berth (seat) i.e. two persons having RAC ticket status are allotted one side-lower berth. The TTE is obligated to allot you a full berth if a seat is available in case any passenger cancels the booking after the chart preparation.


  • Can I search by entering a three/four letter station code instead of a typing the station/city name?

    Yes. As you type the station code we will give you a option to choose that particular station or all stations in the city that station is in whose code you type.


  • How can I see the available trains, their scheduled/departure time and the price?

    You can simply enter the source/destination and on next screen all the available trains will appear. Go further on the next page to check the scheduled arrival and departure time along with the price per seat.


  • What happens if I select 'All Classes' from the section 'Class' while searching for a train?

    On selecting All classes, you can see the seat availability for all the classes i.e Sleeper(SL), Second sitting(2S), AC 3 Tier(3A), AC 2 Tier(2A), AC Chair Car (CC), AC First Class (1A).


  • Can I book a waitlisted or RAC ticket?

    Yes, you can book a waitlisted or RAC ticket. Depending on the availability, your ticket may or may not get confirmed after the chart preparation.


  • I was trying to make a return journey booking, but the page which is displayed shows that only one way booking has been made. What do I do?

    A separate option to book a return ticket is not available on Goverment Hostel. We request you to follow the steps given below to book a return ticket-Click on the GoTrains section. Enter the source, destination, date of journey, class of travel and submit. Check the departure/arrival timings and accordingly select the train you want to book. Enter IRCTC user id. Submit the traveler details and make the payment. Once the payment is done it is imperative to enter the correct IRCTC password to complete the booking successfully.


  • Why is the rail booking facility not available between 11:30 pm - 12:30 am IST?

    Indian railways does not allow any transaction between 11:30 pm- 12:30 am IST. Reservation system remains open for transactions between 12:30 am to 11:30 pm IST.. You cannot even cancel your booking from 11:30 pm- 12:30 am IST. However during this time you can check the availability of the trains,

  • How do I find the trains passing through a particular station?

    To find the available trains passing through a particular station, you need to enter the source and destination and date of journey and then further on the next screen you can see all the trains passing through the set station.


  • What do I do after choosing my seats?

    After choosing your seat you need to follow he following steps to proceed further-Add the name, age, gender of the passengers. Select the booing status. Add boarding station if required. Add phone number, email id. On review page agree to the Goverment Hostel terms and conditions. Choose the payment option to pay the amount. After making the payment, enter the correct IRCTC password to complete the booking successfully.


  • How do I search for a train?

    To search for a train, enter the source, destination along with the date of journey and click on submit to check all the available trains.


  • Why do you show multiple stations, when I searched for a single city?

    Some of the cities have multiple stations like (Delhi, Mumbai). All the stations are displayed to make it convenient for the user to select the required station. If you want to search for a particular station only then please enter the station code in the search option.


  • How many passengers can I book in a single e-ticket?

    You can book a maximum of six passengers in a single ticket.


  • Up to what time before train departure can I book my tickets?

    A ticket can be booked upto the chart preparation time which is usually 4 hours before the scheduled departure time.


  • What happens if after preparation of the reservation chart my ticket remains waitlisted?
